There are several world class waves within a short speedboat ride of the resort, including the famous lefthander Telescopes. Aloita is also well positioned so guests can make surgical strikes to the waves in the Playground area to the north and Peninsula (Lance’s) area to the south. Scuzz has also pioneered a few secrets in the area, including a couple waves you can paddle to right off the island.

The location of Aloita was also selected due it it's proximilty to some of the best dive zones in the Mentawais. Dive trips to this region are a relatively new thing, so you’ll be able to view reefs and the creatures of their habitat in a very pristine state. The water is crystal clear and the ocean is alive with a huge variety of different types of reef, vegetation, and sea life. Aloita has the only true dive center in the Ments, with all the necessary gear and qualified instructors for even a beginner to become a certified diver. Many of the best SCUBA and snorkeling areas in the Mentawais are right near the resort, including the spectacular reefs in and around Setan Island.

The resort itself consists of 7 large air-conditioned double bungalows, plus 1 even larger family (or group) bungalow, each with their own private rear courtyard . Each bungalow is clean, new, and extremely well appointed, and each is just steps from over a mile of private, untouched, white sand beach. The use of local hardwoods is abundant throughout the bungalows, and each room includes a spacious bathroom tiled with Esenza granite with a hot water shower inside AND an additional outdoor shower for that true island experience. Each bungalow has a front terrace that overlooks approximately one kilometer private beach exclusive to Aloita . The Spa, which is the first of its kind in the Mentawais, is equipped with 3 treatment rooms backing onto an enclosed waterfall and fishpond. The sounds of water splashing over the rocks will glide you into a deep relaxation during your massage or other spa treatment. We will also soon be incorporating a yoga base with traveling instructors, which is a perfect fit for this relaxing environment. The wonderful A Bar has a front deck which projects over the water at high tide and comes complete with chill out lounges, cool tunes, ping pong tables, and a wide range of beverages and barsnack menu Reports from our early guests are saying, “it’s like a 5 star hotel”, with the bungalows, food, restaurant/bar, and speedboats being way beyond expectation.

So, as you can see, the Aloita Resort and Spa is far more than just a surf camp.
